I was still standing near the door when Janet and Elaina
emerged from the VIP room. “Do you feel
that?” Janet asked. “I could have sworn that there was someone
here. Maybe it’s your ghost.”
“No,” Elaina said.
“I would be able to see her.”
“Well, either way,” Janet said, not sounding so convinced. “I really shouldn’t be seen with you and
Dante. I’m still with the police
department after all and the two of you are guilty of enough to warrant two vampire lifetimes of prison time.”
“What do you mean by that?” Elaina asked sounding insulted.
Janet walked off without acknowledging Elaina’s
question…
…while Elaina angrily watched Janet’s back as she walked
off.
Elaina turned and reentered the VIP room. “Don’t you
ever do that again!” She said storming
toward Dante.
“Do what little sister?”
He asked innocently.
“How many times do I have to tell you that I’m not your
sister!” Elaina said pointing at
Dante.
“What? We have the same maker.”
“I’m not your sister,” Elaina
reemphasized.
“So I take it you’re not doing this to protect me then,” Dante asked
sarcastically as if he was hurt that Elaina had an ulterior motive.
“Stop it! Just
stop it Dante!” Elaina
said.
“Why are you angry with me?”
“I want you to stop doubting my ability to take care of
this thing in front of Janet,” Elaina urged.
“Okay…I wouldn’t want to ruin your chances to see
daylight now would I,” Dante said
teasing Elaina.
“Ugh…I really do hate you!”
“But I love you
little sister,” Dante said.
“I should just kill you! I should kill
you and this whole thing would be over,” Elaina threatened one last time.
“Well you could…but you’re forgetting one thing-”Dante
started as Elaina was walking toward the door.
“What’s that?” Elaina asked over her
shoulder.
“A vampire cannot kill another vampire,” he
finished.
“Too bad,” Elaina said before walking out the door.
Remembering what Olivia Goth told me about staying
invisible for too long; I left the lounge and reappeared as Elaina emerged once
again from the VIP room. I observed her
from the lounge’s window.
Instead of leaving the lounge; Elaina approached a
werewolf, the only person in the lounge who wasn’t a vampire. “I need to drink from you,” she said in a
matter-of-fact tone.
“You’re crazy-” the werewolf started.
Before he could finish his statement, Elaina stared into his eyes. “I don’t
have time for this,” she said as she lifted her hands and effectively
hypnotized the werewolf.
“Take what you need,” he said once he was under her
spell. Elaina grabbed his arm and
exposed her fangs.
Before he could change his mind about letting her drink
from him; she sunk her teeth deep into his arm, not bothering to even pull back
his sleeve.
Elaina slurped and sucked the werewolf’s blood greedily
through the sleeve of his sweater.
When she got her fill, she pulled her fangs out and
wiped the extra blood from her mouth.
“Mmm…werewolf blood…it’s like drinking warm milk before
bed,” she said softly to herself.
I turned away from the window. Although I no longer had a stomach or an
esophagus…I still went through the motions of being sick to my stomach.
I knew that Elaina had to be feeding somewhere if she
wasn’t feeding from Robert…but to witness it first hand was way too much for
me.
